Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a law on blackmailing businessmen
The Verkhovna Rada has passed in the first reading a bill that allows the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to impose sanctions against any entrepreneur, obliging him to pay taxes.
The bill “On the application of special economic and other restrictive measures” was presented by the head of the tax committee Daniil Getmantsev, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
Today there is a situation in which the persons referred to the sanctions list cannot pay taxes, because they are prohibited to carry out financial transactions. First of all, it is unfair. Secondly, it’s stupid, because we have to accept taxes from all persons, including those under the sanctions list,” he said.
The MP added that the bill also provides for the disclosure of all tax information about the unsanctioned individuals.
In turn, a member of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Nina Yuzhanina explained that the true purpose of this law is to blackmail entrepreneurs, against whom now without any consequences can be imposed sanctions by the decision of a single body.
During the voting the document was supported by 235 deputies out of 226 needed. The bill was adopted in the first reading and sent for further revision.
